Did Seth Godin Really Say That?

Godin
I became a fan of Seth after I saw his talk "All Marketers are Liars" at Google. But having said that, I have no idea what he is trying to say in his recent blog post titled "Ads are the new online tip jar"

excerpt from his blog;

   " I never click on ads."
It's almost a badge of honor to say that. The subtext is, "I'm too smart/busy to waste my time doing that," or perhaps, "I don't want someone to sell my attention."

But the real effect is that you're starving great content.

I can say this because there are no ads here but,

If you like what you're reading, click an ad to say thanks.

Pretty simple, but not an accepted online protocol, at least not yet.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here, Seth. But to me this sounds like you are promoting "Click Fraud", so to say. I'm sure you haven't given a thought to advertiser value.

Google/Yahoo Maps and the Zoom-In Feature

I just noticed this, Both Google and Yahoo have implemented the vertical slider control for the zoom-in / zoon-out feature, but in completely opposite directions.

I’ve using Google maps for a while, but when heard yahoo has a better local (Mumbai**) coverage, I hopped over to check it out and figured the slider works the other way around.

I wonder why? Maybe someone at yahoo (because Google implemented maps first?) thought, OK since they are doing it THAT way let’s do it THIS way, ey?

Sennheiser PX 100 - The Best pair of Headphones I've Owned!

I've been on a the lookout for the perfect pair of headset. I used many headphones like Koss, JBL, Boss, Shure and many more I don’t remember. By my best pair of headphones are Sennheiser PX 100 that I bought a few months back.

Highlights:

* Very comfortable
* Awesome sound Quality
* Kickass bass! (I love this part :) )
* Foldable

Many of my friends here at work who have tried them have actually gone and bought one right away, they are cheap too.

Thinking about Blog Pagination

I was having a discussion with a few friends here at work about how should the pagination on a blog be. The most popular options are;

1. “<< Older Posts” in the bottom left of the page
2. “<< Older Posts” in the bottom right of the page
3. “Next >>” button on the right of the page
4. or the good old classic pagination “[Previous] [ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 3 ] [Next]“ just like how Prosterous has it.

I personally prefer the 1st option, since a blog is supposed to be a chronological sequence of events, if you imagine it on a timeline, you would want to go backwards ‘to see what happened before’, so to say. But that might not most logical to all, for instance one of my buddies here at work said, to him this is like a book/journal, so you keep reading it as NEXT, NEXT.. and so on.

What do you guys think/prefer? I would like to hear from Garry/Sachin what made them pick this model for Posterous.
